A speech would like to keep:

I get sick of these whiny getting on people's cases because they have an OC. And not just that they have one, they have to go into detail. I hate these people. They pick on the aspects of your character, especially if they're related to a canon character. No, a fan's character is NOT a "Mary Sue", a fan's character is NOT a "Wannabe *insert canon character name here*", and a fan's character is not a "ridiculous idea". In fanfiction and doujinshi, a fan lets their imagination run wild! Canon, crack, nonsense.... FANFICTION AND FANART DOES NOT HAVE TO MAKE SENSE! It's the written or artistic documentation of a fan's imagination or opinion, or whatever they want it to be.

AND OCS. They are wonderful! What would the fanfiction/fanart bases be without OCs? They are the author/authoress/artist's way of putting themselves in that world and saying "hey, this is what I would do" or "hey, this is really cool!"

So what right does anyone have to bash anyone's characters? OCs, Fanfiction, and fanart are the passion of fans the world over. And I say:

If you have a character, if you have a story for this character, if you have a person that you want this character to love, if you have a person you want this character to hate, if you have ANYTHING that you want to do with YOUR creativity, GO FOR IT! Other people do not have the right to criticize your thoughts, your character, you imagination, and definitely not your creativity! A wise man once said "Imagination is more important than knowledge." I support that idealism.
